Two May Launches

Hi kids.

Wanted to send out a quick hitter as two of the official Vox Pop SuperFriends are launching debut collections in Toronto in the days ahead. Both are good, honest, books that are sure to please a wide swath of the poem-reading microsphere. Anyway, from now to later, here are the details, with links to Facebook event listings:

Jeff Latosik’s Tiny, Frantic Stronger
This launches (from Insomniac) at 7pm tonight, that’s Monday the 10th, with David W.McFadden and fiction writer Katrina Best. It’s at The Magpie, which for the unintroduced is a lovely little pub with great beer, across the street from The Press Club, at 831 Dundas West.

Anna Swansons’s The Nights Also
This one comes on Thursday, May 20th, along with fellow Tightrope Books authors Danila Botha and Sue Bowness. Anna’s likely better known on either coasts than in the grey area of the country, but her book holds lots of promise, highlighted by the unlikely and diverse trio of blurbers (Lorna Crozier, Tim Lilburn, and Patricia Young) who’ve lent it their voice. If you’re going to miss the launch proper, you can see Anna read at Plasticine (The Central) on Sunday the 16th, and at the Art Bar (Clinton’s) on May 18th.

Tacking on to these items…if you’re passing by a newstand this month and have $8.99 in your pocket, I’d recommend picking up a copy of The Walrus. Beyond the usual good stuff one sees in that magazine, you’ll be able to find my poem, Sin of Omission, on page forty-something.
